Resumo

The atmospheric heating rate due to O 2 and O 3 absorption of solar radiation is parameterized with an accuracy of ±5% in the altitude region 15–120 km. For relevant wavelengths the effects of multiple scattering and ground reflection are also included. These parameterizations are computationally fast, efficient, and suitable for use in numerical models of atmospheric circulation.
