We have observed the spin echo of 171Yb in YbAl2 and YbAl3. For both compounds, the hyperfine field derived from the Knight shift is nearly equal to that expected for a free Yb3+ ion. The nuclear spin-lattice relaxation rate (1T1) shows a value close to that predicted from the Korringa relation for the single impurity regime.
