Death in the Parrot's Cage A little over twenty-seven years ago Dr. J. A. Knott, who had been my house physician, asked me to see a lady... who had been seriously ill for several days. On the way to the house I asked Knott what he thought was wrong and he said 'I don't know, but the Widal is positive so I suppose it's an odd case of typhoid. If it is, it's the oddest one I've seen.' The patient was delirious but could be roused to answer a few questions.
