Resumo

This paper addresses the negative impact of ageist attitudes and stereotypes on older adults' self-esteem and psychological well-being. There then follows an examination of the evidence confirming the conceptual significance of extending equality for sexual expression into the middle and later years. Special attention is focused on the beneficial health effects of sex, with a brief review of the key empirical research findings in this field of sex research.
