Resumo

The people from Bahia refused to share the colective memory for the celebration of a hundred years of Nacional Independence coming from Rio de Janeiro in 1922. The national project proposed by the president Epitacio Pessoa was rejected in Salvador. The "baianos" celebrated the centenary in July 2, 1923, which for them should be the party of all Brazilians. In 1922 and 1923 flourishes the celebration of the civical cult that takes place since 1826, getting stronger during all the XIX century, and therefore continues competing nowadays with September 7 of 1822.
