ResumoAn infiltration method was used to determine the relationship between hydraulic conductivity and moisture content for a slate dust. The necessary unsaturated conditions of the porous material were obtained either by maintaining the surface at a suction through a porous membrane or by maintaining an air pressure greater than atmospheric pressure in a dry material with the surface kept saturated. Measurements (which pertain to the wetting material) for a slate dust are compared with those from other methods. Details are described of the experimental procedure for the suction method and the pressure method. The moisture profiles furing the experiment are detailed. The results are discussed.
