Resumo

THE toxicity of ingested chlorinated hydrocarbon insecticides to chicks and laying hens has been studied by a number of investigators (Woodward et al., 1944; Rubin et al., 1947; Rosenberg and Adler, 1950; Eden, 1951; Arant, 1952; Sherman and Rosenberg, 1953, 1954; and others). The toxicity of some of the organic phosphate insecticides to poultry has also been investigated (Gaafar and Turk, 1956; Harding and Quigley, 1956; Helbacka et al., 1958; and others). However, most of these investigations were for the purpose of determining the effect of these insecticides on poultry accidentally ingesting contaminated litter, feed, or water. More recently chemicals have been intentionally fed to chickens for the purpose of controlling house fly (Musca domestica L.) larvae infesting poultry manure. Quisenberry et al.
