ResumoA phycomycetous fungus belonging to the genus Lagenidium has been found in laboratory-rearing systems for larvae of the American lobster, Homarus americanus. When first and second stages were found to be infested with the fungus, ultimate mortality was in excess of 90%. Juvenile (sixth and seventh stage) animals appear to be impervious to this infestation. The tentative conclusion is made that this fungus is the causative agent of a new mycosis of larval lobsters.
