ResumoA new rare-earth alpha emitter Gd151 has been found in measurements carried out with an ionization chamber. Its α-particle energy is 2.60±0.03 MeV, and the rate of alpha decay is approximately 0.8 × 10−8 α particles per KX-ray. The alpha decay of Gd149 has been studied; 3.01±0.02 MeV was obtained for the α-particle energy and (4.6±1.5) × 10−6 for the alpha branching, both in agreement with earlier data. Reduced widths for all gadolinium alpha emitters have been calculated.
