Resumo

Dimethylacetamide (DMAC) and dimethylformamide (DMFA) are capable of enhancing penetration of human skin and retention in the stratum corneum of griseofulvin and hydrocortisone. This enhancement, though not as dramatic as with dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO), is still impressive and far superior to the other vehicles tested. The lack of unpleasant odor and the diminished irritation of skin associated with DMAC and DMFA as compared to DMSO, suggest that DMAC and DMFA may be very useful vehicles in topical therapy.
