Resumo

Abstract An improved analysis of flow in the screw elements of an intermeshing corotating twin screw extruder is presented. The new theory based on an isothermal Newtonian fluid model allows explicit consideration of the geometry of the intermeshing region. Flow rates are computed as a function of the pressure gradients and screw speeds. Both left‐handed and right‐handed screws are considered.
