The energy spectra of α particles produced by the interaction of 14.7 MeV neutrons with Ho165, Lu175, Ta181 and Au197 have been studied by means of a solid state detector. The differential cross section has been measured at an average angle of 30°. In the cases of tantalum and gold, the ratio between the α particle emission in the forward and backward directions were determined.
