Resumo

Abstract Dance has been a discipline in higher education in the UK for nearly 35 years; the first programme was introduced at the Laban Centre in 1975. The breadth of features that have come to characterise dance in the academy during this time have arguably been enriched by a permeability between the varied ideas that have come to be part of its maturing identity as an 'interdiscipline'. The paper considers the educational possibilities of learning in and through dance, highlighting the recent development of three multimedia resources as positive aids for this journey. Whilst these resources enhance accessibility to the hidden legacy of dance they also identify trajectories for research into the complex knowledge evident in dance as an intellectual, physical and sensorial response to experiences of the world.
