ResumoThe identity, flux, and energy distribution of particles trapped in the earth's magnetic field were determined for those particles which penetrate more than 6 g/cm/sup 2/ of material. Nuclear emulsions exposed to the Van Allen radiation belt by a Thor-Able ballistic missile were used in the measurements. The separation of protons and electrons was done unambiguously for proton energies up to 700 Mev by measuring the ionizatlon of their tracks. (W.D.M.)
