Resumo

Experimental details and specimen results are given for a number of field and laboratory tests for some of the characteristic properties of soils that might be expected to have some relation to the aggressiveness of the soils towards buried (especially, ferrous) metals. Properties examined include electrical resistivity, redox-potential, water and soluble iron contents, pH and various factors bearing on the activity of sulphate reducing bacteria.
