ResumoIn the period between the two world wars the eminent Polish logician Stanislaw Leśniewski (1886–1939) created a hierarchy of logical systems which are unparalleled for their generality, precision, and intuitive foundations. By way of a careful and insightful analysis of the Russell Antinomy he came to distinguish between two notions of class, the distributive class and the collective class. Investigation of these concepts led to the creation of his systems of Ontology and Mereology, respectively. Then, in order to secure the foundations of these systems, he created the most fundamental system, Protothetic.
