ResumoSince 1962 chipped stone implements and projectile points, dating from the Lithic times, have been found on various spots in the Sipaliwini savanna of southern Surinam. As yet, totally 29 surface sites are known, all presumably belonging to the same cultural assemblage, the Sipaliwini complex (Boomert 1975). Related Lithic workshops, camp sites, and individual finds have been discovered in Guyana and Venezuelan Guyana. The aim of this paper is to provide a brief description of the Sipaliwini industry, its distribution, cultural affiliations, and dating.
