Ixodid and Argasid ticks in Connecticut, U.S.A.: Aponomma latum, Amblyomma dissimile, Haemaphysalis leachi group, and Ornithodoros kelleyi (Acari: Ixodidae, Argasidae)

ResumoABSTRACT Three exotic ticks, Aponomma latum (Koch) engorging on the snake Python regius, Amblyomma dissimile Koch on the boa Epicrates cenchria and Haemaphysalis leachi group feeding on a Rhodesian Ridgeback dog, Canis familiaris, were collected in Connecticut, U.S.A. A single specimen of the bat-feeding tick, Ornithodoros kelleyi Cooley and Kohls, was also collected. The Rhodesian Ridgeback imported from the Republic of South Africa, died from a Babesia canis infection 6 days after entering the United States.
