ResumoThe effect of pressure up to 60 kbar on the Curie temperatureTc of titanomagnetites was measured.Tc increases linearly over this range. For magnetite the magnetic Grüneisen parameter γm =d lnTc/d lnV equals about −4±10%.γm increases in magnitude for increasing titanium content with a maximum of γm = −5.1 ± 10%forx ≈ 0.7. This result is consistent with relative strong and positive exchange interactionJBB in the B-sublattice one can deduce from other investigations. It is suggested that a largeJBB makes self-reversal of magnetization unlikely, which is based on a change of the predominant magnetization from one sublattice to the other.
