Abstract Spectrograms from XX 3450-5000, 10 A/mm, and from XX 4300-6650, 20 A/mm, taken onAugust 16,17, and 18, 1946, show a dark-line shell spectrum plus sixty bright lines. Traces of TiO bands are visible. The photographic magnitude was 10.7. The most striking dark lines are those of H and ionized metals, particularly Ti II. Lines of Fe i are numerous, although very few lines of other neutral metals are seen. The shell is nearly stationary, not expanding as in 1939-1940. The principal bright lines are those of H, He I, He ii, N iii, 0 iii, [0 i], [0 iii], [Ne iii], [Ne v], [Fe ii], [Fe v], [Fe vii]. All the bright lines are more or less diffuse. A few of the strQnger ones have two com- ponents of unequal intensity; in the H lines the weaker component is longward, but in lines of He I, He ii, [0 iii], [Ne iii], and [Ne vi it is shortward Publication: The Astrophysical Journal Pub Date: January 1947 DOI: 10.1086/144888 Bibcode: 1947ApJ...105..120M full text sources ADS |
