Resumo

Zheng He's series of naval expeditions was one of the remarkable incidents in Chinese history as well as in world history. His seven voyages, sponsored by the powerful Ming dynasty between the third year of the Yongle period (1405) and the eighth year of the Xuande period (1433), were no small affairs. During those twenty-eight years, Zheng He led his fleet over the seas, covering ten thousand li and traveling to dozens of countries and areas. The expeditions demonstrated Ming China's unrivaled sea power, her magnificent skills in ship building and her seafaring capability. It shows that Ming China had attained the highest level of maritime power in pre-modern history.
