Resumo

Abstract Several dimethylthallium derivatives were studied by means of a study of their IR and NMR spectra and by measurements of their physical properties. These new compounds, (CH3)2· TlSC6H5, (CH3)2TlOC6H4Cl-o, and (CH3)2Tl[B(C6H5)], are described. By correlation with earlier reports, it is possible to classify dimethylthallium derivatives into two groups according to the nature of the hybridization of the Tl-bonding orbitals. The experimental results can be interpreted in a straightforward and consistent manner.
