ResumoSurveyor 3 landed in a 200-meter crater in Oceanus Procellarum at 2.94°S latitude, 23.34°W longitude. Features within the crater were viewed both from the surface by Surveyor and from above by Lunar Orbiter 3. In addition to a large number of television pictures, Surveyor 3 obtained data on lunar surface properties with on-board thermal sensors, with landing radars and strain gages, and with a soil mechanics surface sampler instrument.
