ResumoThe stratigraphic record of 137Cs activity in a tidal marsh at Port Alberni, British Columbia, suggests that a widespread sand sheet just below the marsh surface was deposited by the tsunami from the great Alaska earthquake of 1964. We propose, by analogy, that similar deeper sand sheets at Port Alberni also may have been deposited by earthquake-induced tsunamis.
