ResumoFor many years the senior author was associated with the late Max Wertheimer, founder of Gestalt Psychology, in a research position. In this capacity, he conducted experiments dealing with structural methods in teach ing. This paper is intended to supplement the chapter entitled The Area of the Parellelogram in Wertheimer's recent book, Productive Thinking? by describing in detail a procedure employed to bring about a clearer under standing of the concept of area.
