ResumoThe author reports a case of minute softening located in the midbrain tegmentum with hypertrophic degeneration of the ipsilateral olivary nucleus. This finding, together with 2 similar cases previously reported with Ben Hamida (1967–1968), confirms Trelles' theory (1935) concerning the anatomy of the dentato-olivary pathway. Moreover it demonstrates the exact location of the dentato-olivary fibers on the dorso-medial surface of the red nucleus, which after decussating in the Wernekink commissure within the brachium conjunctivum, merge into the central tegmental tract.
