Resumo

Having received the Women's Art Library/ Feminist Review lArt in the Archive' bursary inviting me as an artist to engage with The Women's Art Library based at Goldsmiths College, I created an abbreviated history of feminist performance art. This became Once More with Feeling, a one-day event held at Tate Modern on 27 June 2009. Numerous feminist performance pieces from the late 1960s to the 1990s were restaged by me and several other contemporary artists including Oreet Ashery, Katherine Araniello, Lilibeth Cuenca Rasmussen, Davina Drummond and Nadine Jarvis, Caroline Smith, Lucy Thane and more. The re-enactments were both celebratory and unorthodox, evoking the past in today's terms. Once More with Feeling demonstrated the mixed feelings my generation have for the feminist artists who preceded us, while at the same time making our admiration and indebtedness transparent. In tying the work of the second-wave feminist artists to our own artistic volition we placed pleasure at the heart of our feminist concerns today.
