Resumo

We report high-resolution neutron scattering measurements at Q = 23 Å−1 of 4He in the low-temperature superfluid and in the normal liquid phase at much higher momentum transfers than in previous measurements. When the impulse approximation prediction is broadened according to a recent theory for final-state effects, the data are in excellent agreement with ab initio Monte Carlo calculations of momentum distributions, which predict a Bose condensate fraction of 9.2% in the superfluid at T = 0 K.
