Traditional and Medicinal Uses of Annonaceae

A new 31-norcycloartane type triterpene, cyclocaducinol, has been isolated from the latex of Euphorbia caducifolia. Its absolute structure was determined as (24R)-24-ethyl-31-norcycloart-20-en-3β-ol by the use of chemical and spectroscopic methods including 2D NMR. The known triterpenes euphol, tirucallol and cycloartenol have also been isolated as major constituents.
