ResumoRecent developments have suggested that the desoxypentose nucleic acid (DNA) of T2 may play a dominant role in the intracellular phases of infection by the virus. The new results bring into sharp focus our ignorance about the biological function of this class of substances. I am going to review some of the reasons for the current interest in the DNA of T2. Unfortunately I shall not be able to say anything of consequence about its function.
