Resumo

Abstract The infrared spectra of meso- and racemic-2,3-dibromobutanes in solution and in gaseous states were obtained in the study of the rotational isomers. The occurrence of three rotational isomers was confirmed for both meso- and racemic-isomers. The quantitative estimation of the equilibrium concentrations of the rotational isomers was also made in various solvents. The energy difference between the rotational isomers was determined by measuring the temperature-dependence of the absorption intensities of v(C–Br) vibrations.
