ResumoPion diffraction dissociation into masses up to approximately 6 GeV is observed in the reaction ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}+p\ensuremath{\rightarrow}p+X$ at 205 GeV/c. The pion single-diffraction cross section for mass squared \ensuremath{\le} 32 Ge${\mathrm{V}}^{2}$ is 1.9 \ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{} 0.2 mb.
