ResumoAbstract The adsorption of labelled CN − ions was studied at platinized platinum electrodes in alkaline medium (0.1 mol dm −3 NaOH) using the radiotracer method. It was found that irreversible chemisorption occurred over a wide potential range (0–600 mV, RHE scale). On the other hand, the effect of chemisorbed CN − ions on the adsorption of labelled Ca 2+ ions was investigated. Cation adsorption induced by electrosorbed anions was observed. In the light of these results, the parallelism between OH − and CN − electrosorption was discussed.
