ResumoSerra de Monte Alto extends over several municipalities in the southwestern region of the state of Bahia. It contains springs that provide water to these municipalities and serve as recreation areas for its inhabitants. In this mountain area, two conservation areas were created: the State Park of Serra dos Montes Altos and the Wildlife Refuge of Serra dos Montes Altos. The present study took place in the area between the cities of Palmas Monte de Alto and Sebastião Laranjeiras, aiming to assist the conservation strategies for the mountain area. Both natural and human factors were considered using the analysis of erodibility.Although erosion is a natural process, human interference contributes to the acceleration of the process, causing considerable damage such as aggradation of rivers, ecosystem changes, decline in soil fertility, and water pollution.Analysis using the Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE), over a period of 25 years, showed that the erosion in the studied area is low.
