ResumoAbstract IR and Raman spectra of K 4 P 4 O 12 Te(OH) 6 2D 2 O and K 4 P 4 O 12 Te(OH) 6 2H 2 O have been recorded and analysed. The P 4 O 12 modes are assigned on the basis of characteristic vibrations of the POP and PO 2 groups. The P 4 O 4 ion has C 2h symmetry and the P 4 O 12 and TeO 6 groups coexist in this compound. Two crystallographically distinct water molecules exist in K 4 P 4 O 12 Te(OH) 6 2H 2 O. The water molecules form strong hydrogen bonds.
