Resumo

The aim of the paper is to portray the reception of Geoges Bernanos by Sérgio Miliet, a prestigious critic at the time. While commenting, in newspaper articles dating from 1944 and 1945, the lecture "Réflexions sur le cas de conscience français" four volumes of Le Chemin de la Croix des Âmes, and the novel Monsieur Ouine, the critic sketches a parallel between the French and the Brazilian political contexts of the period, recommending involvement by the intellectual of the time.
