Pesticide Exposure and Toxicity

Resumo

Blood samples from 42 pesticide factory workers in Agra, India were analysed for biochemical indices of clinical importance. About three-quarters of the subjects were anaemic and their serum folic acid, vitamin B12 and cholinesterase levels were below the normal range. In the majority of subjects elevated levels of serum cholesterol, phospholipid and serum glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase were observed. Thirty-one subjects reported general toxic symtoms. Pigmentation on the exposed parts of the body was found in some subjects.
