ResumoAbstract The effect of ventilation on indoor temperature control, thermal comfort, outdoor unit energy consumption, and the efficiency of the multisplit variable refrigerant volume (VRV) system is investigated numerically. Similar to experimental results reported in Aynur et al. (2008), ventilation does not affect the indoor temperature control of the multisplit VRV system. However, it increases the energy consumption of the multisplit VRV system. A control strategy for the multisplit VRV system integrated with the heat recovery ventilation (HRV) units' "synchronized indoor fan operation with economizer" is proposed, which promises 17%–28% energy savings when compared with the "continuous indoor fan operation without economizer."
