ResumoEl presente trabajo, utilizando el enfoque metodologico de sistemas de produccion, caracterizo los sistemas de produccion campesinos de dos localidades y tres sectores parcelados, de la comuna de San Clemente de la provincia de Talca, en la VII Region del Maule, Chile, desde una perspectiva economica y tecnica. Para ello se trabajo con dos tipos de productores, parceleros de la reforma agraria y pequenos productores minifundistas. Las caracteristicas tecnicas de los dos sistemas de produccion no presentaron diferencias entre productores. Estos se caracterizan por una baja incorporacion tecnologica que se manifiesta en una baja productividad por hectarea. Utilizan fundamentalmente mano de obra familiar, recurriendo en forma esporadica a la contratacion de mano de obra externa. Las economias de los minifundistas orientan su produccion principalmente al autoconsumo familiar, en cambio en los parceleros ocurre una situacion inversa, pues orientan la mayor parte a los mercados. El componente pecuario juega un rol muy importante en la generacion de ingresos monetarios de las unidades campesinas, constituyendo ademas una fuente de ahorro y seguridad que les permite afrontar inestabilidades economicas. Abstract By means of a methodological approach the present survey characterized the peasant farming systems of two localities in the San Clemente Country of the Talca province, VII th administrative region of Chile, from an economic and technical standpoint. For this purpose two categories of farmers were utilized: beneficiaries from the agrarian reform and small farmers. Technicall speaking both farming systems did not show any differences. Both systems showed a very low degree of tecnology incorporation which was associated with a low productivity per hectare. These kinds of farmers use the family group hand labor hiring only ocassionally,external assistence. The economic production systems of the small farmers are orientated mainly to self consumption while those economic production systems of the agrarian reform beneficiarles orientate their efforts to the meet the market demands. We are able to state that the animal production component plays an important role on the genesis of income for the peasantry as well as being a saving and reassurance wich allows them to face economic inestabilities.
