ResumoPropranolol was used for local anaesthesia in minor surgery. Good results were obtained in 26 of 27 patients in whom propranolol (0.4 per cent) was infiltrated for treatment of lacerated injuries. When applied topically for minor ear, nose and throat surgery (0.8 or 0.4 per cent) good results were reported in 24 of 26 patients. Combination with adrenaline increased the duration of propranolol anaesthesia. No side effects were encountered and there was no evidence of tissue irritation.
