ResumoTHIS paper reports the survival of 3 newborn infants after surgery for hemoperitoneum due to rupture of the spleen. Similar survivals have not been recorded.Case ReportsCase 1. A female Negro infant was born at 7:10 a.m. on January 26, 1955, after a spontaneous, uneventful delivery. The birth weight was 3.9 kg. (8 pounds, 12 ounces). Pregnancy and labor had been uneventful. She was well until 12:00 a.m., when she vomited bright-red blood, for which she received vitamin K intramuscularly. Her mother was Type O, Rh positive. CD; the baby was Type O, Rh positive, cD.
