Recurrent infections contribute significantly to morbidity and mortality in the Shwachman-Diamond syndrome. There is no correlation between infectious episodes and degree of duration of neutropenia. The finding of a chemotactic disorder in a patient with this syndrome may explain, in part, the susceptibility of these patients to infection. REFERENCES Bellanti, J. A., and Dayton, D. H.
