Resumo

The negative influence of the construction and developpement of a ski station on the vegetation is presented in this paper on the basis of a study in the Pyrenean Espot ski area, at Pallars Sobira, province of Lerida, Catalonia, Spain. Two levels were studied, landscape and plant communities. Landscape was negatively affected, because of the reduction of wet areas, forests and meadows and the increasing of open areas. A decrease of the high value plant communities was shown, together with the augmentation of the banal ones. More precisely, the installation of new pists by removing the ground produced a strong impact on soil deepness, cover degree and diversity of plant species. On the contrary, if soil remains not disturbed and if there is a grazing activity it would be possible to maintain ski-runs with a certain naturality. As a conclusion, the authors suggest a diminution of the frequency and intensity of perturbations, and a good pasture activities as well.
