Two experiments are described in which rats received Candida albicans, in yeast or mycelial phase, by mouth while on one of two diets—a normal diet and a carbohydrate-rich diet. Candida albicans when inoculated in the mycelial phase persisted in the mouths of animals receiving the carbohydrate rich diet longer than in those animals on the normal diet and its infectivity may have been potentiated.
