ResumoSUMMARYThe suspensor and the organogenetic part of the embryo of Phaseolus coccineus were analysed separately for total RNA and protein content, cellular content, and cellular rates of synthesis of RNA and protein. The pattern of accumulation and synthesis was different in the two parts of the embryo, and at all stages of development values for the suspensor were higher than those for the organogenetic part of the embryo. Results are discussed in relatioin to possible suspensor function, and it is concluded that the suspensor may be morphogenetically important in regulating early embryo development.
