Resumo

Abstract Somatostatir (growth-hormone release-inhibiting hormone), 0.6 um/Kg, subcutaneously, inhibited the basal gastric acid secretion (77 min) in the unanesthetized rat. The [desamino1]-somatostatin was similar in activity while the [descar☐14-and [desamino1][descar☐y14]-somatostatin analogs exhibitedreduced activities (38 min and 34 min);the [D-lysine9]-somatostatin was not appreciably effective even at 2 um/Kg, s.c. Pentagastrin-induced (50 ug/Kg/hr, i.v.) gastric acid secretion was prevented by somatostatin (0.05 um/Kg/hr, i.v.).
