AbstractEveryone has heard of Crufts, the world's largest dog show. How much more do you know? Originating in, and for a century London based, the first Crufts dog show was held at the Royal Agricultural Hall, Islington in 1891. Here it stayed for many years as a one-day event. In 1948, under the auspices of the Kennel Club, it moved to Olympia, then in 1979 moved to the larger area of Earls Court. The 1982 show was a three-day event, which became four days in 1987. In Crufts centenary year, 1991, it had outgrown the space of the London venue and moved to the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham where it has remained ever since.
