Resumo

Abstract This paper presents dielectric properties such as dielectric capacitance and loss behaviour of iodine doped cellulose acetate films in different temperature (300–420 K) and frequency (50 Hz-15 KHz) ranges. While undoped films exhibit capacitance peaks at low temperatures, incorporation of iodine into the host material decreases its capacitance and shifts the peak capacitance to still lower temperatures. Two relaxational peaks were observed at 312 and 345 K in undoped films. On doping with iodine the dielectric loss increased followed by shifting of loss peaks. The results are explained in terms of presence of charged dopant ions and formation of charge transfer complexes.
