ResumoThe vitamin B~ content of the blood of Holstein cows was determined before parturition and at intervals during early lactation to test the hypothesis that a partial depletion of reserves might occur at this time.Blood vitamin B~ levels were found to vary significantly (P < .001)both among cows and among stages of lactation. They were lower preceding parturition and during the first few weeks of lactation than at mid-lactation.There appeared to be little correlation between blood vitamin B~ levels and milk production, grain consumption, or blood glucose levels during early lactation.* Significant (P ~ .001). a See footnotes Table 2.
