Resumo

Conductivity and Hall coefficient measurements for the intercalation complexes formed between TiSe2 and hydrazine show that there is substantial filling of the titanium d band. For the most metallic complex, of stoichiometry TiSe2(N2H4)0.6, which shows n-type conduction, the effective carrier concentration in the layers is approximately 7*1021 cm-3, and good metallic behaviour is observed on cooling, with rho (295K)/ rho (4.2K) approximately 18. Similar behaviour is seen in the V-doped materials V0.01Ti0.99Se2 and V0.03Ti0.97Se2. These values imply an increase in the Ti d band filling of approximately 0.45 electrons, and an average valence state for the hydrazine of +0.75. The structural phase transition seen in the unintercalated materials is observed in partially deintercalated samples at the same temperatures as in the pristine materials, 200K for TiSe2 and 160K for V0.01Ti0.99Se2.
